Three people from Mississauga have now been charged in connection with a police investigation into an armed robbery that took place more than a year ago in a small central Ontario community.

Ontario Provincial Police said the charges are related to a May 7, 2025 robbery of a financial institution in Keene, just southeast of Peterborough.

Shortly before 5 p.m. that day, three culprits carrying weapons entered the bank and fled a short time later with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to investigators.

Peterborough County OPP said descriptions of suspects and a getaway vehicle, which were provided at the time to police, led to the arrest a short time later of two teens from Brampton, one aged 16 and the other 17.

The three subsequent arrests were made last month after further investigation “uncovered information regarding the planning and execution of the robbery,” police said in a news release late last week.

On July 9, OPP officers arrested a suspect, now aged 19, at a home in Mississauga. The person was charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and subsequently appeared in Peterborough court, police said.

On July 22, two additional suspects, who were already in custody on unrelated matters at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene, were arrested and charged in relation to the May 2025 robbery, according to police.

Those suspects, aged 19 and 20 and both of Mississauga, are also charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Both have subsequently appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded in custody with future court dates set, police said.

Due to the ages of all accused at the time of the offence, their names will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
