Linda Noskova defeated Clara Tauson 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3 in Cincinnati to reach the next round after her Wimbledon title.
Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova continued her strong run with a 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3 victory over Clara Tauson in the Round of 32 at the Cincinnati Open. Noskova hit 17 aces and won 78 points, compared with Tauson’s 65, while converting three of nine break points to advance to the next round.
Noskova Admits She Is Still Processing Wimbledon
Despite the comfortable scoreline, Noskova admitted that her return to competition has not been easy after her breakthrough Wimbledon triumph.
“Not even close,” Noskova said when asked if everything went to plan. “The serve was serving. But other than that, I was using whatever I had today.”
The Czech star said she is still trying to find her best level after such a successful few weeks.
“I’m still just trying to find myself on court, honestly. I know I’m not playing the best, but I’m getting there.”
Noskova also revealed that she has not fully processed winning Wimbledon yet.
“I have not,” she said with a laugh. “I still have not. I mean, I might be in a year in here and I still might not process it.”
She explained that achieving such a major dream has made it surprisingly difficult to fully enjoy the moment.
“I feel like once you actually hit that point and you manage to win it, it’s so much tougher to enjoy it and realize it than you would actually thought you would.”
Noskova Proud to Represent Czech Republic
Noskova also spoke about her upcoming opportunity to represent the Czech Republic at the Billie Jean King Cup.
“For me, it has always been such a privilege to even get on court, to get into the team,” she said.
The Wimbledon champion made it clear that representing her country remains a priority.
“Whenever time comes and I get to represent my country, I always do it, no matter the circumstances.”
