‘Robin Hood’ panto auditions, AGM for Fraser Valley Musical Theatre in Surrey

The final days of August are busy for Fraser Valley Musical Theatre (FVMT).
The Surrey-based company is auditioning for Robin Hood, a fall pantomime production, and hosts an annual general meeting Sunday, Aug. 30 at Bear Creek Park.
Robin Hood, The Panto will hit Surrey Arts Centre’s Main Stage from Nov. 27 to Dec. 6; auditions are Aug. 23-25 at St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, North Delta.
On fvmt.org, the show is hyped as a fun-filled adventure through Sherwood Forest packed with laugh-out-loud comedy, audience participation, music, dance, romance and plenty of panto magic. Tickets aren’t yet sold on the website.
Mike Balser will direct a cast of characters including Nurse Nora (the Dame role), Robin Hood, Sheriff of Nottingham, Little John, Maid Marian and others in a non-Equity, volunteer-based production. Auditions are open to performers aged 5+, no experience required.
Warren McWilliams wrote the Robin Hood panto script, and Ashley Trimble (music director) and Vanessa Quarinto (choreographer) are in key roles.
Meantime, FVMT’s AGM will be held in the picnic area south of the theatre parking lot at Bear Creek Park. Hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments will be served, 1 p.m. start. The meeting agenda shows future productions of Come From Away and a Miscast Broadway Concert next spring.
Annually, FVMT produces two full-scale musical theatre productions in Surrey (holiday panto, summer musical). The company was founded in 1983 (as Fraser Valley Gilbert & Sullivan Society) by “a passionate group of theatre lovers. Their vision was simple: to bring people together through high-quality, community-driven theatre in the Lower Mainland,” says a post on fvmt.org.
