A 50-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Brampton Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a crash between a motorcycle and transit bus around 9:26 a.m. near Bovaird Drive E. and Great Lakes Drive, Peel police said on social media platform X.

At the scene they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries, said Const. Amanda Steenson at a news conference.

The motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene, she said. The bus driver wasn’t hurt in the crash, Steenson said.

It appeared the bus was travelling northbound and turning, while the motorcycle was travelling westbound before the crash, she said. Steenson said she was not certain if the bus was carrying any passengers at the time.

She said speed may be a factor in the crash, but investigators would not be certain until after they spoke with witnesses, checked video and recreated the scene.

She urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to reach out to investigators.

Residents in the area are urged to avoid road closures going westbound and eastbound between Great Lakes Drive and Highway 410, police said.
