Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has betrayed housemate Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) in Coronation Street.

Earlier this week, the beloved character returned from a holiday in Thailand. He’d gone away for some recovery following the murder of his abusive husband Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) – something which his best pal Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) had committed.

Upon his comeback, Todd has shown a worrying reliance on alcohol. He even accepted funeral parlour client Celeste’s (Frances Barber) invitation to join her for a drink, instead of planning the ceremony at his desk.

Later, while she detailed a Dolly Parton themed service – which was actually for herself – Glenda took a liking to her neighbour, Fraser (Chris Grahamson). She took down his number and planned a date, completely unaware that he’s actually gay.

In today’s (21 August) episode, Glenda, Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) had become increasingly concerned about Todd’s heavy drinking and general poor attitude since he came back to the cobbles.

Glenda warned him that if he continued treating his friends so badly, he would soon find himself with nobody to support him.

Later, after Celeste visited the undertakers again and revealed that Fraser was gay, Todd began plotting a way to get revenge on Glenda.

She excitedly prepared for her date, and was taken aback when Todd angrily confronted her in front of his fellow Rovers punters, accusing her of gossiping about him.

He decided to intercept Fraser and falsely claim that Glenda was ill, before proceeding to flirt with him himself.

Devastated that he was a no-show, Glenda and the other women returned to No. 11, where they were shocked to see a shirtless Todd and half-dressed Fraser running down the staircase. It’s safe to say that she was left utterly humiliated by the discovery.

Having been shamed by his friends, Todd sat alone on the sofa. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) then arrived and confronted him over his cruel behaviour, condemning him for deliberately hurting Glenda.

However, Todd showed no remorse, declaring that he had stopped caring about anyone else and would now focus solely on looking after himself.

Will anybody be able to make a breakthrough?
