A selection of Wham!’s live performances from their historic 1985 trip to China will be released for the first time, on a special live EP in December.
10 Days in China – The Live EP features four songs that all went to number one in the UK and/or the USA with two (‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ and ‘Freedom’) from the first concert in Beijing and a pair (‘Everything She Wants’ and ‘Careless Whisper’) from the second (and last) show in Guangzhou.
This live audio has been newly mixed and mastered by Chris Porter from the original recordings and will be released on 12-inch vinyl and CD single. Whether this EP is a taster of a full length live album next year or all we’ll be getting, remains to be seen.
The announcement of this release has presumably been timed to coincide with a showing of Mike Christie’s excellent documentary of the same name, on BBC TV, in the UK, on Saturday 29 August at 9pm. You can read SDE’s interview with Mike about his film, here.
