ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger left Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels after four innings with a left wrist contusion after being hit by a pitch in the third inning by Angels starter Ryan Johnson.
X-rays were negative, and he’s listed as day to day, the team said.
“That got him good. He’s pretty swollen, pretty sore,” Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said after the game, won by the Angels, 3-0. “So far, the X-rays are negative. But we’ll probably get more scans, and he’ll see the doctor later tonight. But it squared him up pretty good.

“Had a tough time swinging the bat when he went down to see if he could still stay in. Burger’s one of the toughest guys I’ve ever been around. So if he’s not able to go back in, you knew it was pretty sore.”
Burger has hit 21 home runs this season, one short of Joc Pederson’s club lead, and leads the Rangers with 73 RBIs.
