A joint police investigation is underway into the suspicious deaths of two Ottawa residents, one who was found dead in a Lowertown home Saturday and another who died in a crash in western Quebec.
At around 12:30 a.m., officers with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) responded to a fatal single-vehicle collision on Highway 50 near Montebello, Que.
The provincial police force told Radio-Canada that a man in his 30s lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail and then crashed into a concrete wall.
The man’s injuries were “suspicious,” according to a media release Saturday night from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
He was taken to hospital and died soon after, OPS said.

The SQ asked for help with their investigation, leading Ottawa police to visit a home on Guigues Avenue just after 11 a.m., the news release said.
When officers went inside, they found a second dead person, Ottawa police said.
The force’s homicide unit is now leading the investigation.
OPS did not share any details about how the deaths might be connected, aside from that they are both suspicious and involved Ottawa residents.
Their names are also not being released as family are still being notified, OPS said.
People should expect an increased police presence around Guigues Avenue as officers collect evidence and speak to witnesses, the force said.
There is no threat to public safety, they added.
