Toronto police’s hate crimes unit is investigating an incident in North York on the weekend that Jewish groups say was “blatant antisemitism.”
Police on Monday retweeted a post by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) that describes “antisemitic hate speech” that took place in the area of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West. The post was made on social media platform X.

CIJA said in the post it is calling for justice along with B’nai Brith Canada and the Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center.
“Week after week, for nearly three years, the Jewish community has been harassed and targeted at Bathurst and Sheppard, the heart of a Toronto Jewish neighbourhood,” CIJA said.
“And now, an individual … accusing Jews of using ‘black magic,’ raping, murdering, and eating children,” it said. Another post by CIJA contains video of a man accusing “Zionists” of such acts.
“This cannot be allowed to continue without consequences,” CIJA said.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it to come forward.
