One man has been charged and police seized multiple electronic devices in a raid linked to a child sexual exploitation investigation north of Brampton.
The OPP says officers with the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) raided a home north of Brampton in the Inglewood area of Caledon on Aug. 12.
Investigators say “several” devices were seized from the home, and assistance was provided by offices from the Caledon OPP detachment and digital forensics unit.
Police say James Gilbert, 53, of Inglewood, has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The accused has been released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Orangeville on Sept. 10.
“The OPP will continue to identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children,” police said in a release, adding a reminder for parents to take a proactive approach to help protect children from online sexual exploitation.
