It’s one of the most adventurous fundraisers in Portland! Community Cycling Center Executive Director Ruben Alvarado and Brittany Morris, Director of Strategic Partnerships, joined to share how they help open up the world of cyclng to everyone, regardless of income or experience. To help fund those efforts they’re hosting Cycle Quest, am all-ages scavenger hunt by bike on Saturday, August 29.
Up to 150 riders, solo or in teams of up to five, will check in at Alberta Park starting at 10:30 a.m. before setting off on a points-based scavenger hunt across the city. Riders don’t need to be the fastest on two wheels to win: with points awarded for solving clues rather than speed, the event is designed so that every kind of rider, on every kind of bike, has a real shot at the title of Portland’s ultimate Cycle Quest champion.
Cycle Quest wraps up at 3:00 pm at Lucky Labrador Brewing Company (1905 NE Killingsworth St.), where the celebration continues through 5:00 [,p.m. with food, drinks, community, and where the Cycle Quest winner will be announced. The afterparty is open to the public; riders and non-riders alike are welcome to join the celebration.
Every ticket purchased is a donation directly supporting CCC’s no-cost bike programming, which serves nearly 3,000 Portlanders annually through free bikes, free repairs, and free bike education. Registration uses sliding-scale pricing, currently available for $20 to $30 per rider through August 28, so participants can choose the level that works for their budget.
