QUEBEC — The Quebec general election campaign will be officially launched Thursday, for a vote on Oct. 5.
Premier Christine Fréchette issued a statement Wednesday saying she will hold a final cabinet meeting Thursday before meeting the lieutenant-governor, Manon Jeannotte, around 10:30 a.m. to launch the campaign.
The visit is a legal formality to dissolve the 43rd legislature. Quebec has a fixed-date election law stipulating the vote will take place Oct. 5.
