Wildfire east of Vernon held

UPDATE: 8:30 p.m.
The BC Wildfire Service is now reporting the lightning-caused wildfire east of Vernon is now held.
That means the fire is not expected to grown beyond its current borders.
The fire grew to about 0.5 hectares in size before being contained.
There is currently another, spot sized wildfire, directly north of the fire off Highway 6 that was also discovered today and believed to be caused by lightning, according to the BCWS website.

A new wildfire has been found east of Vernon this evening.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, a 0.4 hectare blaze has popped up some 50 kilometres away from Vernon on the south side of Highway 6.
The out of control wildfire is believed to have been caused by lightning.
