Arguably the biggest name in American folk-pop right now is coming to Vancouver on Friday, Aug. 28.
Noah Kahan will be in town for a show at BC Place. It’s nearly sold out, though new tickets have just been released.
The stop is part of his North American tour this summer. Toronto and Vancouver are his only Canadian dates at this time.
Kahan rose to international stardom after the release of his last album, 2022’s Stick Season. That album, led by the single of the same name and “Northern Attitude,” hit No. 1 on the Canadian album charts and went seven times platinum. Eight songs from that album charted in Canada.
His new album The Great Divide was released in April and has already topped the Canadian charts and has gone two times platinum here, with three singles cracking the top 10 of the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, including “Doors,” which hit number two this summer.
Opening up for Kahan will be Gigi Perez, best known for the 2024 single “Sailor Song.” She released her first album, At the Beach, in Every Life, last year. Annabelle Dinda will also be opening.
Public merch store
There’s a merch store open Thursday, Aug. 27, from noon to 8 p.m.
It’s located at the Terry Fox Plaza, near BC Place’s Gate H.
For those going to the concert, there will be 12 different spots to buy merch inside the stadium during the concert, on levels one, two and four.
Early start
The concert has an early start, with Dinda first on stage at around 6:30 p.m. Gates will open up at 5 p.m.
Tickets were sold out, but it appears a few obstructed-view tickets have recently been added. They’re running $140.45, though they seem to be selling fast.
Transportation
TransLink doesn’t have any major alerts for SkyTrain or SeaBus services directly before or after the concert.
For those travelling from the Island, Hullo Ferries has a late-night sailing but it has already sold out.
Restrictions
BC Place has a firm bag policy, with bags no larger than 6.5 inches by 8.5 inches allowed, unless they are transparent bags. Clear bags are allowed to be one foot by one foot by six inches.
Staff will be outside alerting people to the bag size restrictions and directing people with larger bags to a bag check, which costs $10 and must be done before entering the stadium.
Exceptions can be made for medically necessary bags.
Certain items are prohibited, including large cameras with detachable lenses, posters and signs, drones, outside food, selfie sticks, and large bottles (even empty).
Cashless venue
BC Place is a cashless venue, so be sure to bring a different way to pay. Cash is no longer king in the stadium.
