Surrey Auto Loop to bring Mercedes, 6 other car dealers to $250M mall

Surrey Honda and Mercedes-Benz Surrey are among confirmed car dealers coming to Surrey Auto Loop, a new auto mall to be built in Newton at 13340 76 Ave.
Seven or more dealerships are planned on the 16-acre site, where OpenRoad Auto and Conwest Developments held a groundbreaking event Friday, Aug. 28.
Surrey Auto Loop will have 1,000 vehicle parking stalls and close to 166,000 square feet of commercial space, with showrooms, offices, food outlet(s) and service facilities.
Construction should begin early in 2027, with more dealership brands and information announced later. By 2028, the auto mall will be “a modern campus where people can shop, service their vehicles and experience great automotive brands,” promised Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto.
Investment in the complex will approach $250 million and involve up to 500 permanent jobs, Chia said.
Conwest led work for land rezoning, quickly approved by Surrey city council last January, on the south side of 76 Avenue abutting a diagonal rail line, east of 132 Street.
Mayor Brenda Locke calls the auto mall “a major investment in Newton and another sign of the growth and opportunity we’re seeing across our city. It will create local jobs and bring new economic activity to the area.”
Chia thanks the City of Surrey and partners at Conwest Developments for making Surrey Auto Loop possible in “one convenient destination” in the growing city.
Ben Taddei, Conwest CEO and partner, says the development-ready site will bring “significant private investment, adding hundreds of jobs and another important step in Surrey’s continued evolution as a major employment and economic centre.”
Founded in 2000, OpenRoad Auto is advertised as B.C.’s largest automotive dealership group, employing over 2,500 associates and representing 23 brands across 44 locations including 37 dealerships in B.C. and Ontario, seven collision centres.
