Three people were taken to hospital after a fire in a two-storey home in Winnipeg Thursday night, the city says.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire on St. John’s Avenue, just east of Aikins Street, the city said in a Friday news release.
Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building when they arrived. They started with a defensive attack that later transitioned to an interior attack when conditions allowed, the city said. They declared the fire under control just after 11 p.m.
Everyone got out of the building before crews arrived, and paramedics assessed and treated three people at the scene before taking them to the hospital. One of those people was in critical condition, while two others were in unstable condition.
The fire is still under investigation, the city said, and damage estimates aren’t available.
