A man in his 60s is dead after two vehicles collided in Brampton on Friday, police say.

Officers responded to the area of Queen Street E. and Delta Park Boulevard shortly before 1:30 p.m., Peel Regional Police said in a post on social media platform X.

A tractor trailer was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Delta Park Boulevard, when a second vehicle struck from behind “for some unknown reason,” according to police spokesperson Const. Laurie McCann.

“We’re unsure at this time how this occurred,” McCann said.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died, McCann said.

Each vehicle had only one occupant, she added. The driver of the tractor trailer was shaken up but not injured.

Members of Peel police’s major collision bureau are investigating, she said.

The intersection remains closed, police said. Queen Street E. is closed westbound at Goreway Drive and one eastbound lane is closed from Airport Road.
