An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital early Saturday after being injured with a sharp object during what police say may have been a fight involving several people.
Police received a 911 call at about 3:30 a.m. reporting that a person had been injured near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Lambert-Closse streets in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough.
Officers who arrived at the scene found the victim conscious with injuries to the lower part of his body caused by a sharp object.
He was transported to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
According to preliminary information, a fight involving several people took place before the man was injured.
A police perimeter was established to protect the scene for investigators and forensic identification technicians, who are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Police have spoken with witnesses and will check for surveillance cameras in the area.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
