Agatha Christie is the undisputed Queen of Crime. Some of her most memorable crime novels include Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, featuring her beloved Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. And now, BritBox and the BBC are bringing another Agatha Christie book series to the screen, which already has a trailer and a confirmed release date.
Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence is a six-part mystery scheduled to debut on September 15, 2026. Tommy and Tuppence were first introduced in the 1922 novel The Secret Adversary. The series will star Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’s Josh Dylan as Tommy, The Good Doctor’s Antonia Thomas as Tuppence, and Harry Potter’s Imelda Staunton as Aunt Ada.
The Upcoming Series Brings Tommy and Tuppence to the Modern Era
Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence is a modern adaptation. The 1920s characters will solve mysteries in the 21st century, similar to recent adaptations of Sherlock Holmes, such as BBC’s Sherlock and CBS’s Elementary. Tommy and Tuppence are Thomas Beresford and Prudence Cowley, two childhood friends searching for adventure, who decide to form “The Young Adventurers, Ltd.”
Their idea comes after they both realize they are out of money and in need of work, and they advertise themselves as “Willing to do anything. Go anywhere… No unreasonable offer refused.” And the upcoming adaptation, the first to bring the characters to a contemporary setting, could turn Tommy and Tuppence into a fan-favorite detective duo.
The Tommy and Tuppence novels were Agatha Christie’s favorite novels to write. The characters grow with every story alongside Christie herself, and she enjoyed the adventure and espionage side of these stories. Tommy and Tuppence appear in four novels: The Secret Adversary, N or M?, By the Pricking of My Thumbs, and Christie’s last novel, Postern of Fate, as well as one short-story collection, Partners in Crime.

The first Hercule Poirot novel to be adapted in the upcoming series has already been confirmed.
