As the peloton enjoys the first rest day of the Vuelta a España, Soudal Quick-Step will line up in a special-edition jersey created in collaboration with long-term partner Safety Jogger Works. Featuring the bold message “So light, it should be illegal,” a new one-off design offers a first hint at a major safety footwear innovation set to be unveiled in early September.
The activation marks another exciting milestone in the long-standing partnership between Safety Jogger and Soudal Quick-Step, ahead of the brand stepping up as a title sponsor of the team from next season.
Where cycling performance meets safety innovation
In professional cycling, every gram matters. From bikes and helmets to shoes and bottles, every detail is scrutinized in the pursuit of lighter, smarter performance. That same mindset inspired Safety Jogger to rethink what professional protection can feel like.
Just how light? While the full details will have to wait until September, imagine a professional safety shoe weighing no more than a standard cycling bottle or a lightweight running sneaker.
A jersey designed to turn heads
For now, the product stays out of sight. Instead, the Soudal Quick-Step riders will carry the story onto the roads of the Vuelta.
The special-edition jersey brings together the worlds of professional cycling and safety footwear in an unexpected way, giving fans a first taste of what Safety Jogger has been working on behind the scenes.
Speaking of the special jersey, Tom Gybels, General Director of Safety Jogger, said: “The Vuelta is the perfect place to start telling this story. In professional cycling, every gram matters, and that idea connects strongly with what we have been working on behind the scenes. We don’t want to give too much away yet. For now, the jersey says everything we want people to know: ‘So light, it should be illegal.’ In September, all will be revealed.”

The special-edition jersey will be worn exclusively by the Soudal Quick-Step men’s team during the Vuelta a España rest day, offering a first glimpse of an exciting new chapter before Safety Jogger pulls back the curtain this September.
