The Winnipeg Public Library has named Manitoba artist Maureen Winnicki Lyons as its final Maker-in-Residence for 2026.

Winnicki Lyons brings 25 years of experience in art and craft to the program.

The Manitoba artist works with wool from different breeds of sheep, along with natural dyes and other fibre techniques.

She has taught thousands of people through hundreds of classes across the province and will bring her knowledge of fibres and natural dyes to her residency.

Her work blends a variety of fibre-craft and artistic techniques to create unique pieces.

During her residency, Winnicki Lyons will offer drop-in studio times in the library’s ideaMILL and host workshops at library branches across Winnipeg.

Her term begins Sept. 14 and runs through Dec. 10, 2026.
