SHIZUOKA, Japan – Florida Gulf Coast’s men’s golf team closed out the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament in sixth place at Grand Fields Country Club. The Eagles posted a final-round total of 290 to finish at 865 (283-292-290) for the three days.

FGCU finished 49 shots behind champion Nihon, which closed at 816. New Mexico held on for second at 824, Texas Christian University was third at 831, and Tohoku Fukushi rounded out the top four at 835. Seattle finished fifth at 860, one spot and five shots ahead of the Eagles.

“It was a good first look at where this team is heading,” said head coach Lee McCoy. “We competed hard against a strong field all week, and I’m excited to keep building on it as the season goes.”

Alfie Storer turned in the low round for FGCU for the second straight day, carding a 1-over 72 to finish tied for 27th at 214 (+1) for the tournament. He opened with two birdies against two bogeys on the front nine to turn in even-par 36, then added two more birdies on the back that were offset by three bogeys for a 1-over 36.

Christian Figueredo shot 2-over 73 in the final round to finish tied for 33rd at 216 (+3). He played his front nine to even par with a birdie and a bogey, then opened the back nine with a double bogey on the par-4 10th. He added a bogey on the 12th before answering with a birdie on the par-3 14th and playing the rest of the way in for a 2-over 37.

Brody Stevenson posted the best nine holes of the day for the Eagles, making the turn in 3-under 33 behind three front-nine birdies. He opened the back nine with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 10 and 11, then added two more late bogeys on 16 and 17 for a 4-over 39, and he finished with a 1-over 72 to close the tournament tied for 46th at 219 (+6).

Trevor Tingle shot 2-over 73 in the final round to finish tied for 85th at 228 (+15). He made the turn at 1-under 35 with two birdies against a bogey, then bogeys on 13, 14, and 17 on the back nine led to a 3-over 38.

Jay Wilson withdrew from the tournament prior to the final round due to injury. He finished with a two-round total of 143 (+1) through 36 holes.
