Thailand has been recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having eliminated rubella as a public health issue, marking a significant milestone.
Dr Nilesh Buddha, Officer-in-Charge of the WHO in the South-East Asia Region, endorsed the Regional Verification Commission’s recommendation following a review and a field visit in July.
Thailand is now the seventh country in the region to achieve rubella elimination.
