Rookie WNBA sensation Olivia Miles isn’t a part of the Team USA roster for the 2026 FIBA World Cup. She is spending the break focusing on one key factor ahead of the postseason.

Olivia Miles was the second overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, and she has already taken the league by storm. The 23-year-old was named an All-Star and is even getting MVP shouts as a rookie.

Miles has been the perfect addition to the Minnesota Lynx, who sit atop the regular season standings with a dominant 31-9 record. She has the chance to help the team to a championship in her first year.

The young star has been dealing with some health issues in the last couple of months. She recently revealed how she is using the break in action to focus on that ahead of the WNBA Playoffs.

Miles missed two games in July after she twisted her ankle during a game. The minor injury was exacerbated on August 19th, too, meaning the break came at the right time for her.

Superstar Napheesa Collier is the only Lynx player with Team USA at the World Cup. And as the team uses this break to get ready for the business end of the WNBA season, Miles’ situation has also been revealed.

“Olivia Miles hasn’t had a true break from basketball since last fall, when her final collegiate season at Texas Christian began,” reads a report from the Minnesota Star Tribune.

“The few weeks between the NCAA tournament and the start of Lynx training camp were ‘game-plan mode,’ said Miles, who packed up her life in Fort Worth, trained and prepared for the draft.

“Now, she has a few days to stretch, run and watch film. ‘I’m recovering from some ankle stuff,’ said Miles. ‘Just trying to get my body right.’”

Some time off before the highest stakes part of the year begins could prove to be a huge difference-maker for Miles and the Lynx. If she can play a major role in a title run as a rookie, it will be an incredible start for the 23-year-old’s professional career.
