A person is fighting for their life in hospital following a stabbing in Mississauga that led to a large police presence and a search for a suspect.
Peel Regional Police said officers responded to the area of Main Street and Dundas Street East at approximately 5:39 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.
Police said one person was found suffering from critical injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.
One suspect was taken into custody following the incident, while officers searched the surrounding area for a second suspect.
In an update, police said the stabbing was believed to be an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
The outstanding suspect is described by police as a Hispanic woman in her mid-30s, approximately five-foot-four, with blonde and brown hair.
The victim remained in critical condition at a trauma centre as of the latest police update.
Officers remained in the Main Street and Dundas Street East area as the investigation continued.
Police had earlier asked members of the public to avoid the area due to the large police presence.
