A major outdoor comedy festival that was expected to bring thousands of people to Mississauga’s Erindale Park this weekend has been called off, just days before it was scheduled to begin.
Ward 7 Councillor Dipika Damerla announced the news on social media Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 8), saying the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival would not proceed as planned.
“We are sorry to share that the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Mississauga will not be happening as planned. After careful consideration, the team has made the difficult decision to postpone our show scheduled for September 11th-13th, 2026,” organizers said in a statement.
“We know there was a lot of excitement around the show, but our priority is to deliver the best possible festival, and we believe that postponing this week’s performance is the right decision to ensure we can do that. We’re exploring new dates and will be back with an update as soon as we have one. If you’ve purchased tickets, please stay tuned as we’ll be following up directly.”
The festival was to make its Mississauga debut at Erindale Park, with five shows featuring some of the biggest names in North American comedy.
Friday night’s opening show was to be headlined by John Mulaney, Stavros Halkias, Fred Armisen and James Austin Johnson.
Saturday was to feature Adam Ray as Dr. Phil Live, Ms. Pat, T.J. Miller, Jeff Arcuri, Brad Williams and Grace O’Malley, while Sunday’s lineup included Matt Mathews, Jordan Jensen, Katherine Blanford, Hasan Minhaj, Ronny Chieng and Michael Kosta.
The festival had been billed as a major new event for Mississauga, with organizers expecting roughly 12,500 people for each of the five shows.
The city had also been preparing for the influx of visitors. Erindale Park was scheduled to have portions fenced off beginning Sept. 6, with parking lots closed and temporary access changes remaining in place until Sept. 16 to accommodate event setup and teardown.

Trixstar Entertainment, which launched the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Edmonton in 2021, was producing the event. The festival has since expanded to several Canadian and U.S. cities and has featured major headliners including Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Bill Burr, Martin Short and Amy Schumer.
It was to be the festival’s first appearance in Mississauga and the final stop on its 2026 North American tour. City officials promoted the event as an opportunity to attract visitors from across the GTA, Ontario, and beyond while supporting local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses.
