Saskatchewan golfers are chasing the lead after opening-round action at the 2026 Canadian Men’s Senior Golf Championship at Niakwa Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.
Regina’s Ken Rodgers led the Saskatchewan contingent Tuesday, shooting a six-over 78 to sit tied for 47th.
Rick Hallberg is tied for 64th after a 79, while Scott Allan is tied for 81st at eight-over.
Brad Phelps and 2026 Saskatchewan Senior champion Jim Born both carded 81 and are tied for 95th, with Shawn Strelau tied for 105th at ten-over.
Ron Swan sits 129th at 12-over, Brent Wotypka is tied for 145th at 15-over, and Lonnie Jones is 153rd following a 21-over 93.
Gusty winds made scoring difficult throughout the opening round, with Winnipeg’s David White handling the conditions best. He fired a three-under 69 to take the outright lead.
Scotland’s Ronnie Clark is one shot back at two-under, while J. Stephen Watson sits third at even-par.
In the Inter-Provincial Team Championship, Saskatchewan is eighth after combining for a score of 17-over par.
British Columbia leads the team competition at two-over, one shot ahead of Manitoba.
Round two goes Wednesday in Winnipeg.
