A Canadian dessert chain has closed in Mississauga.
BeaverTails and Shelly’s Chill at 213 Queen St. S. in Streetsville are marked as permanently closed on Google Maps, and customers reported the closure on social media.
The BeaverTails location is no longer listed on the company website.
Attempts to contact Shelly’s Chill was unsuccessful.
BeaverTails are flat donuts topped with sweets such as chocolate hazelnut spread, maple spread, peanut butter, bananas, cheesecake spread, brownie pieces, crushed Oreo cookies or Reese’s Pieces. BeaverTails locations also have fries, poutine, hot dogs wrapped in a pastry, ice cream, lemonade and smoothies.
The chain started as a wooden booth in the heart of Ottawa’s historic ByWard Market in 1980. It has since grown to about 50 shops in tourist towns and resort villages and over 150 mobile shops, according to the website.
The Streetsville location opened in 2022, and Shelly’s Chill operated in the same space.
Shelly’s Chill served chicken sandwiches, bowls, shakes and fries.
Before BeaverTails, the location was home to Butter Chicken Roti from 2019 until it closed down in April 2022 amid allegations of failed rent payments. It was a Second Cup coffee shop for many years before that.

Many people on Reddit would like to see a Second Cup or another coffee shop open in the location.
“The Second Cup was really good. I feel like a breakfast bagel / coffee situation would be nice,” one person said on Reddit.
Those who have a BeaverTails craving can find the closest locations at Toronto Premium Outlets, 13850 Steeles Ave. W., Halton Hills, or at Toronto Waterfront, 145 Queen’s Quay W.
