A Brampton mother says winning a huge $115,000 lottery prize will help her family prepare for the future, after a bit of celebration.
Rubini M. has been a regular lottery player for over two decades, often buying Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 tickets on OLG.ca. The Brampton mother was on the phone with her son when she discovered she’d won the second-place prize in the Jan. 2 Lotto Max draw, winning $115,308.20.
“I didn’t think it was real at first. We couldn’t believe it,” she said while picking up her winnings at the OLD prize centre in Toronto.
Rubini said she was happy to share this special moment with her family, who were “overjoyed” when hearing the “very exciting” news.
Rubini said it’s too early to say what she’ll do with all of the money.
“I’m mostly focused on securing my family’s future,” she said of the prize. “I’m also looking forward to celebrating with a dinner or vacation.”
Lotto Max players in Ontario have won over $10 billion since 2019, including 125 jackpot wins and 1,003 Maxmillions prizes, the OLG says.
“With jackpots that can soar to $90 million, every draw offers a growing number of $100,000 Maxplus prizes, with additional $1 million Maxmillions prizes added once the jackpot hits $50 million,” the OLG says.
The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program. The winning ticket was purchased on OLG.ca.
