Health officials have ordered the temporary closure of a Brampton grocery store’s takeout counter following a failed health inspection that found a food safety “critical risk.”
Peel Public Health says Sabzi Market, located at 8-10970 Bramalea Rd. in Brampton, was inspected on Wednesday. A temporary red-card closure was issued after several issues were identified with the grocery store’s takeout counter, including a “critical risk” for food safety.
Did the operator process food in a manner that makes it safe to eat? (Critical Risk) Not In Compliance.
Did operator provide and use accurate and easy-to-read thermometers? Not In Compliance.
Did operator maintain non-food contact surfaces clean, sanitary and in good condition? Not In Compliance.
Did operator maintain the mechanical ventilation system to remove odours, fumes, vapours, smoke and excessive heat? Not In Compliance.
Did operator use good housekeeping practices ? Not In Compliance.
Did operator maintain and operate food premises free from any condition that is a health hazard? Not In Compliance.
No follow-up inspections have been conducted as of Thursday at 1 p.m., but the takeout counter could reopen following future inspections if the issues are remedied.
Peel Public Health issues Red cards when an inspector finds a health risk or danger, and the establishment or service is closed until the risks are removed. A yellow conditional pass means the establishment is not following all the requirements under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and issues that pose a risk of illness must be corrected at the time of inspection.
The grocery store’s takeout counter was previously issued a yellow card in November 2025, according to Peel Public Health records.
