Sault College is inviting students, employees and community members to stay active, build strength and connect with others this fall through its free Drop-In Group Fitness program.
Running from Sept. 14 to Dec. 10, classes will take place Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the A-Wing Studio, Room A-1080. No pre-registration is required. Participants are welcome to attend whenever their schedules allow.
The program offers accessible, instructor-led classes designed to be modified for most fitness levels. Sessions are led by Sault College professors and group fitness instructors Heather Pusch and Lisa Maidra, with support from students in the College’s Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) program.
This fall’s weekly schedule includes:
Mondays: Simply Strong Circuit – A station-based workout incorporating upper-body, lower-body, core and cardio exercises using a variety of equipment and body-weight resistance.
Tuesdays: WalkFit – A moderate-intensity, low-impact class combining choreographed walking steps and balance-focused exercises. No jumping is required.
Wednesdays: Back to Basics – A low-impact Tabata-style workout featuring short bursts of movement and active recovery, with a focus on strength, balance, endurance and mobility.
Thursdays: Strength in Motion – An upbeat, choreographed weights class that combines simple resistance exercises, music and easy-to-follow movement patterns to support muscular endurance and functional strength.
“Physical activity can play an important role in supporting overall well-being, energy and confidence,” said Heather Pusch, professor and group fitness instructor at Sault College. “These classes offer a welcoming and flexible way for people to move, try something new and participate at a level that works for them.”
All participants must complete a Get Active Questionnaire before attending their first class. Classes are free, and no prior experience is necessary.
