The new drug store will be in the rapidly growing commercial district where Trunk Road intersects with South Market Street

Sault Ste. Marie is about to get another Shoppers Drug Mart location.

The city’s building staff report a building permit was issued in August for a $3.25-million building shell at 523 Trunk Rd.

That price doesn’t include any additional costs for interior tenant fit-up.

The Sault’s newest drug store will be in the rapidly growing commercial district where Trunk Road intersects with South Market Street.

Earlier this year, the city’s committee of adjustment approved a minor variance to allow a smaller-than-usual easterly rear yard for a new 1,598-square-metre single-storey commercial building on the property.

The variance was approved to accommodate an irregular rear lot line.

The Shoppers project was one of 117 building permits issued in August, representing a total value of $16.8 million.
