A well-known mochi doughnut spot in Toronto is opening a new Filipino restaurant.
After initially closing its location at 4 St. Patrick St., Isabella’s announced it is reopening the location as Araceli on Sept. 19.
“We’re reopening our St. Patrick location — but this time, it won’t just be doughnuts,” the team shared online. “Say hello to our baby sister brand: Araceli, a Filipino kitchen built on the traditions and flavours we grew up on, brought to life with the modern energy of Toronto.”
According to the restaurant, you can expect food that is “hearty, comforting and packed with bold flavour.” Think adobo, calamansi, coconut and garlic, “it’s made for people who just love good food,” they stated.
There will be a celebration on opening day that starts with the ribbon cutting at noon. The first 100 customers will get a gift bag with goodies and gifts.
The day will include a Filipino-style fiesta, complete with a barbecue and other treats. “We will have live food preparation as well as interactive activities, such as hand-fan making, face painting for the little ones, a DJ and giveaways,” the team added.
Throughout opening day, the entire menu will be 50 per cent off. Between 4 and 6 p.m., every purchase will include a free Araceli sandwich.
“Come celebrate with us, enjoy the doughnut brand you know and love plus taste something new with Araceli,” they stated. “We can’t wait to see you there! Don’t forget to bring your appetite.”
Founded by local couple David and Cecilia in 2016, Isabella’s is named after their daughter.
Ten years later, they have five locations around Toronto, which include at The Well and Union Station.
