The 2029 Champions League final will be played at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou. Thirty years after it last staged the showpiece, and with the stadium currently undergoing a major renovation, UEFA has selected the Barça venue to host the game that will decide the 2028/29 Champions League. The previous final, in 2027/28, will be held at Munich’s Allianz Arena.

Although work on the Camp Nou will force Barcelona to return to Montjuïc next season, the expectation is that the stadium will be ready by the end of the campaign in which it is due to host the final. That helped it win the vote ahead of Wembley, the other candidate. The Catalan club has almost three years to ensure everything is ready by June 2029.

By then, the Camp Nou will have been completely renovated and will have a capacity of 105,000, a factor that proved decisive in UEFA opting for what is expected to be one of the world’s leading stadiums.

The restoration of relations between UEFA and Barcelona, and between Aleksander Ceferin and Joan Laporta, sealed a year ago, also means European soccer’s governing body can once again turn to the Barça stadium for its major finals. That is significant for UEFA, whose range of available venues had become increasingly limited in recent years.

Hosting the Champions League final will also underline Barcelona’s renewed relationship with UEFA. Before its renovation, the Camp Nou staged the final twice, in 1989 and 1999. Thirty years after the latter, European soccer’s biggest club game will return to Barcelona.

New promotion and relegation system for the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League

The UEFA Executive Committee approved an adjustment to the promotion and relegation system for the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, allowing for a smooth transition to the new format approved in May 2026.

Under that new system, the UEFA Nations League will consist of three leagues instead of four from the 2028/29 edition onward.
