LETTER: Thanks to City of Surrey for Panorama Park improvements

Editor,
Thank you to Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and council for making large strides to listening to the residents in the neighbourhood at Panorama Park in Newton.
For many years past, we have felt ignored when reasonable requests were made to the City and councils to repair and improve the small parks and road safety that are located in the residential area. In the past two to three years, however, there has been a positive change in responding to our requests. Emails are replied to and a work-plans are described to folks raising concerns.
This is very much appreciated by the citizens in this area. A few pictures show some of the nice work that has been done recently (sent in a separate email to editor). Thank you very much to the parks staff and also the forestry people for keeping our green-spaces maintained. “Focus on Newton” has been a target for the current mayor and council, and we are very happy to see this overdue attention for Panorama Park.
Now, if only we could get the speed humps installed in the Panorama Park streets to slow down the speeders! Over 500 signatures have been gathered from residents in this neighbourhood. We are patiently waiting for attention to this safety issue to get the speed humps installed and the speed limit reduced from 50 km/h to 30 km/h.
Thanks again, mayor, council and City staff for your support to Panorama Park.
Jason Mann, Surrey
