Several of Brampton’s tennis courts have been upgraded with newly resurfaced playing areas.

Five of the city’s more than 20 tennis facilities are now open with new “modernized” features, including resurfaced courts that offer users “a smoother and safer playing experience,” the city said on Thursday.

The newly resurfaced courts can be found at Kenpark Avenue, Valleybrook Park, Richvale Park, White Spruce Park and Allan Kerbel Park.

“Get ready to grab your racquet and hit the courts close to home,” the city says of the newly refinished courts.

All of the courts on the Brampton Recreation website operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Each location has posted signage at tennis and pickleball courts for rules, regulations, and behaviour guidelines.​​

Court time is limited to 30 minutes of play when other guests are waiting, and players are asked to “use the honour system and be courteous to your fellow players.”

Drop-in players must leave courts when Brampton Recreation programs are in operation, and you can sign up for programs and lessons by visiting www.brampton.ca/registerforprograms​.

Riding vehicles like skateboards, in-line skates, scooters and bicycles are prohibited on Brampton tennis courts.

The city has put millions into developing tennis facilities in Brampton in recent years, including $6.8 million for the new indoor Rosalea Park Tennis Facility.

Premier Racquet Clubs runs lessons at the facility on behalf of the city for kids, adults and seniors, court bookings for drop-in play, group lessons, high-performance programs and tournaments. Court times at the Rosalea Park Tennis Facility can be booked through Premier Racquet Clubs​.
