The UCI Road World Championships begin this weekend, which means another weekend of disruptions to city streets and highways. The Bonaventure Expressway will be closed westbound between the Champlain Bridge and Wellington St. from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday.
To mitigate the disruption, parking will be free at the Chevrier parking lot in Brossard, and free shuttle buses run by the RTL will shuttle between that lot and the Du Quartier REM station from 6 to 10 a.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m. Standard transit fares apply for the REM.
Parts of several streets in Montreal will be closed for the event in Old Montreal, eastern Ville-Marie and Plateau-Mont-Royal, including Pierre-Dupuy Ave., De la Commune St., McGill St. Notre-Dame St., Atateken St., Ste-Catherine St., Ontario St., Berri St., St-Denis St., des Pins Ave., Parc Ave. Mont-Royal Ave., Duluth St. and St-Laurent Blvd. This weekend’s time trials will also use the Estacade ice bridge, seaway dike path and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, closing those to regular cyclists until Tuesday. Highway 25
The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel and highway will be closed south of Sherbrooke St. from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, in both directions. Souligny Ave. will be closed eastbound from Dickson St. to Honoré-Beaugrand St. from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.
Route 116
In St-Bruno-de-Montarville, only one lane will be open each way between Seigneurial Blvd. and Boucherville Blvd., from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Route 158
In Mirabel, the road will be closed in both directions between Highway 15 and St-Simon Rd., from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Continuing disruptions
Highway 13: In Laval, the southbound lanes are closed for renovation work until the fall between Ste-Rose Blvd. and Highway 440. Southbound traffic is rerouted to the service road, and during the morning rush hour (4-11 a.m.), a contraflow lane will be open on the northbound side for southbound traffic.
Highway 15: Repaving work is taking place on the Laurentian Autoroute between Highway 40 and the Médéric-Martin Bridge to Laval, which will involve overnight and weekend lane closings until the end of 2027.
Highway 15 (Brossard): Repaving work is taking place on the southbound side of Highway 15 between the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge and the St-Jacques River. The work will continue until the fall and will involve weekend and overnight closings.
Highway 40 (Repentigny): Traffic disruptions can be expected because of repaving work. The Transport Ministry says the work will be done at night to minimize disruptions.
Route 340 (Vaudreuil-Dorion): In Vaudreuil-Dorion, Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd. is closed in both directions until the end of October, between de la Gare Blvd. and Jean-Béliveau St. A new roundabout at de la Gare Blvd. is partially in service. The overpass of Route 340 over Highway 30 is partly closed until November.
Highway 520: The entrance from Roméo-Vachon Blvd. south (from the airport toward Highway 20 west) is closed through Nov. 11.
Jean-Talon St.: Work on building the Blue Line métro extension means parts of Jean-Talon St. are closed. Affected buses (in particular Nos. 141, 188 and 372) are detoured onto Bélanger and Everett Sts. to avoid those areas, and a temporary shuttle bus (No. 814) has been established along Jean-Talon and Bélanger Sts.
Ste-Catherine St. (Ville-Marie): Major work on the street and underground infrastructure means it is closed at various points between St-Mathieu and Peel Sts. Crossing streets are also blocked. Guy St. is closed at Ste-Catherine St.
Berri St. (Ville-Marie): Major work at the Berri-UQAM métro station has resulted in Berri St. being closed between Ste-Catherine and Ontario Sts., and de Maisonneuve Blvd. being closed between St-Denis and St-Hubert Sts. until November 2027. Traffic is detoured via St-Hubert, Atateken, St-Urbain or Ontario Sts., or René-Lévesque Blvd., while cyclists are being diverted to Atateken and Ontario Sts. Pie-IX Blvd. (Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve): Work to extend the SRB Pie-IX south means only one lane is open in each direction between Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. and Notre-Dame St. Crossing streets are open.
St-Urbain St. (Ville-Marie): The overpass over the Ville-Marie Expressway is closed for a long renovation until the end of 2026. Pedestrian access is maintained.
