Caitlin Clark, after a string of injuries, missed the game vs Minnesota Lynx on Friday

Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark has had a tough season to say the least. Riddled with injuries, the player who was known for not having missed a single game has been forced to sit out almost two-thirds of the regular season thanks to a slew of injuries. For fans hoping to see No. 22 back in action, the season has been frustrating with no end in sight, since there is still no official clear timeline on when Clark can be expected back in the game.

In discussing the matter during a recent appearance on the ‘Good Follow’ show, WNBA analyst Ros Gold-Onwude made her case for why Clark should sit out this season.

WNBA analyst comments

After discussing the mystery of Clark’s August 7 injury being kept a secret till August 20, Gold-Onwude opined, “It is very mysterious. Here’s what I do know… it might be time to shut this thing down. It might be time.”

“It’s like every time [Clark] tries to do more, there’s a new injury. You might be playing with fire. Already, the season-ending injuries have mounted… and it’s all injuries to the guards. Like, I don’t even think the Fever really have enough depth at the guard position to support a Caitlin Clark comeback. Like, do you have enough bodies to support that?”

“By the time you even bring her back, there’s barely enough time for her to really, truly catch a rhythm,” she added. “The season has been honorable for the Fever… But it might just be time to look on to the future.”

Caitlin Clark’s season injuries

“The two-time All-Star missed out on another practice on Wednesday (August 20) due to an injured right groin. “Clark has not played since hurting her groin in the final minute of a game July 15 at Connecticut. Three different muscle injuries this season have forced Clark to sit out 22 games, including the past 13, and All-Star weekend in Indianapolis,” reports ESPN.

The Fever face the Minnesota Lynx on Friday (August 22).
