Do you love singing – or even just listening to people sing?
Do you love the music of Dolly Parton and admire her legacy of supporting children’s literacy?
If the answer is yes to both questions, you’ll probably want to check out the next ‘Choir Not Choir’ event, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Peninsula United Church White Rock, 15385 Semiahmoo Ave.
According to Peninsula United’s Tom Barichello, Choir Not Choir – which has already staged several events this year, including one during Pride Week – is a pop-up choral experience, with no auditions or experience required.
“It’s all about the joy of making music together with coffee, tea and snacks at the end,” he said.
“This (next) Choir Not Choir event will be celebrating the amazing songs from Dolly Parton’s career.”
in memory of Parton’s contributions to children’s literacy, Barichello said, there will be representative from Sources Community Resource Centre that will be at the event “if anyone attending wants to make a donation to the Imagination Library.”
As the Sources website notes, since 2010, Sources Imagination Library has inspired a love of reading in more than 1,600 children, delivering over 49,000 free books to young readers across Surrey and White Rock.
With continued support, Sources can continue bringing the joy of books to children in our community and help reach even more families, the website adds.
