Ever wonder how much it costs Surrey taxpayers each year to keep the city’s public facilities clean?

Probably not, but the answer is $1,010,763.76 (spending limit set at $1,111,840.14).

Those are the figures attached to a recommended contract that came before council for approval on September 21 related to custodial supplies.

“The purpose of this report is to obtain Council’s approval to award a contract for the provision of custodial supplies for use at participating City facilities, including Parks, Recreation & Culture facilities, Surrey Fire Service facilities, Civic Facilities, and Surrey Libraries, to A&G Supply Ltd.,” Laurie Cavan, Surrey’s general manager of parks, recreation and culture noted.

“This includes indoor pools, arenas, recreation centres, arts and culture buildings, outdoor park washrooms, fire halls, library branches, City Hall, and civic administrative spaces.”

City hall received nine submissions for the work.

Cavan said an evaluation team “unanimously concluded” that A&G Supply Ltd. has what it takes to do the job.
