Former CFL and NFL player Tommie Campbell has been accused of assaulting his son at a recent youth football game in Pennsylvania, according to CBS reporter Shelley Bortz.
The 38-year-old is alleged to have yelled at his six-year-old son, slapped his hands, and dragged him off the football field. Moments later, Campbell was accused of lifting the child off the ground and holding him against a portable toilet before dropping him to the ground.
Nate Bible, the district attorney for Beaver County, has claimed there is video of the alleged incident. The child did not sustain any injuries.

“You have a former NFL athlete that is probably stronger than most of the people in Beaver County, and this very small child that is essentially like a rag doll,” Bible told CBS.
“Where it crosses into criminal, in my office’s opinion, is at the point where he grabs the kid and slams him up against the Port-A-Jon.”
Campbell has been charged with simple assault and harassment, which are misdemeanor and summary offences.
“Kids look up to you,” said Bible. “They’re playing sports, they want to be like you, they want to be where you were. To behave that way in public as a coach, as a former NFL athlete, as a member of the community … I think that’s really what tipped us over to say charges should be filed here.”
The six-foot-three, 203-pound defender played for the Calgary Stampeders and Montreal Alouettes from 2016 to 2019, recording 214 total tackles, nine interceptions, and three forced fumbles. He was named All-CFL in 2016 and All-East Division in 2019.
The native of Aliquippa, Pa. was a seventh-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Pennsylvania Western University California. He played 44 career regular-season NFL games with the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 37 total tackles, one pass knockdown, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
None of the allegations against Campbell has been tested in court.
