The fall semester is well underway for college students, and guess what: Michelle Williams is one of them. The 47-year-old singer announced on Instagram that she is officially a sophomore at Regent University, a private “premier Christian” school in Virginia Beach. She’s studying psychology — because, in her words, “y’all need help!”
Williams studied criminal justice at Illinois State University in the ’90s after graduating from high school but dropped out after a couple of years to pursue music (she was a member of Destiny’s Child by early 2000). Now that she’s back to the books, Williams said she hesitated to share her studies publicly out of a fear of not graduating; she hadn’t even told her family and friends. In true “Survivor” spirit, though, she is committed to seeing it through. “I’m going to finish and I’m going to finish strong,” she wrote.
In the top comments is her fellow Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, who offered a supportive “This is YOUR TIME! 🥹🥰♥️”
Williams is also throwing it back with her school supplies. She posted a photo of a splatter-paint binder she said is “essential” for her studies: “I know everything is digital nowadays but…… gimme my binder!😂” Little does she know, analog is trending.
