Meghan Markle is back in the United Kingdom. On Wednesday, Alliance of Moms founder Kelly McKee Zajfen – a longtime friend of the Duchess – shared an Instagram post with happy, candid photos from her own recent trip to England, revealing she’d visited Meghan while across the pond.
In the images, Meghan was seen wearing a casual, all-black athleisure look, relaxing in a zip-up sweatshirt, leggings, and a baseball hat. But the most surprising part of her outfit was her footwear: easy black flip-flops (see the photo here).
Admittedly, a pair of flip-flops won’t carry you all the way through autumn, but are a polished choice while the weather continues to cooperate (the mercury teetered over 24°C this week). Dakota Johnson recently gave us a lesson in trans-seasonal styling, also proving that we don’t yet need to pack away our summer accessories – or, specifically, our open-toe shoes (more on that here).
Stylish women have been wearing flip-flops like Meghan’s on repeat this season – whether classic Havaianas or luxurious, name-brand flip-flops. Thong-sandal kitten heels and stilettos have also soared in popularity, with the fashion set taking cues from recent catwalks. For spring/summer 2026, Balenciaga showed a range of jewel-toned platform velvet flip-flops, while Calvin Klein’s were minimalist leather styles in black or white and Carven’s came in candy colours with deliciously puffy proportions.

In fact, everyone from Khaite to Max Mara to Ralph Lauren championed the flip-flop in some form this season, be it flat, heeled or with a bohemian edge (none, though, have achieved the same cult status as The Row’s Dune sandals, which were named as the number one hottest product in Lyst’s Q2 2025 Index).
Meanwhile, Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, also appeared in a low-key outfit in McKee Zajfen’s post. And in the caption, the activist and entrepreneur shared a sweet note about the Sussexes’ move back to England, writing: “Having the best time. There’s something so special about getting a taste of this magical place with my bestie. I’ve loved seeing this sweet chapter through her eyes and daily adventures!”
McKee Zajfen also noted that it was wonderful how “loving” people have been towards her friend, adding: “It’s been beautiful to witness. She missed you too!”
Meghan and Harry left the UK for California in 2020, after stepping back from their roles as senior royals. Despite their return, their royal status has not changed, King Charles III recently clarified.
