Cadillac F1 has announced the recruitment of three senior figures to its technical team, all of whom have experience from front-running teams.
Craig Skinner will become Chief Development Engineer, Eric Blandin will slot in as Head of Aerodynamics, while Tim Lean will be Chief Engineer–Aerodynamics Modeling, and Simulation.
The trio will all join Cadillac across the next few months.
Skinner spent 20 years in senior positions at Red Bull Racing and became Chief Designer in 2022, during which period the team won two Constructors’ titles, before leaving earlier in 2026.
Blandin worked at Red Bull and Ferrari before switching to Mercedes in 2011, taking titles as its Chief Aerodynamicist, prior to a four-year spell at Aston Martin in senior roles before leaving earlier this year.
Lean, meanwhile, has experience from lengthy stints at Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari.
The changes come a month after Marcin Budkowski replaced Graeme Lowdon as Cadillac’s Team Principal.
“These appointments represent a vital step in the technical evolution of the team,” said Budkowski. “Bringing together experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics, and modellng will help us create a stronger integrated technical organization and improve performance on track.
“Craig, Eric, and Tim bring race and championship-winning experience to Cadillac F1 in areas that are central to our long-term development.”
Cadillac has yet to score a point across its maiden season in Formula 1 though has occasionally been able to battle with backmarker rivals, most prominently Aston Martin, which has been beset by problems emanating from its Honda power unit.
U.K.-based Phillip Horton started covering Grands Prix while still at university and swiftly deemed that writing about Formula 1 and the behind-the-scenes machinations was much more engaging than reading centuries-old novels. Degree gained, he went on to cover the sport full-time from 2014 and is as intrigued and excited by the destinations Formula 1 visits during its lengthy annual world tour as the racing itself. Phillip joined Autoweek in 2021 and while he has just about learned to spell in American English he has yet to find anywhere in America that makes a proper cup of tea.
