Zeeshan Wahla

ZEESHAN Wahla is the B.C. Conservative candidate in the riding of Surrey City Centre for the October 24 provincial election.

Wahla is a professional engineer with extensive experience in engineering and planning, successfully running an engineering consulting business. He is registered P. Eng. in four provinces.

In the last election in October 2024, he narrowly lost to NDP’s Amna Shah, who is running again this time. Shah was elected with 6,439 (46.24% of the total vote), while Wahla garnered 6,343 votes (45.55% of the total vote).

Wahla has called Surrey home ever since he first arrived in Canada in 2007 as an immigrant. He is a devoted husband and has four daughters.

His journey includes a steadfast pursuit of higher education and the establishment of himself as a dynamic entrepreneur. Through these experiences, he has gained invaluable insight into the challenges faced by ordinary individuals within the current socio-economic landscape.

He strongly believes that the Conservative Party of BC stands out as the only political entity with a clear vision and ambitious agenda focused on addressing the pressing issues affecting the common person and the community at large.

He asserts that political bias and ideology have no rightful place within British Columbia’s education curriculum and advocates for their immediate removal. He emphasizes that schools should serve as environments dedicated to learning, devoid of agendas aimed at activism or indoctrination.

He also stresses that prioritizing policies that support the growth and prosperity of small and medium-sized businesses is paramount.

Wahla last May noted on his Facebook Page: “From 2023 to 2026, property taxes on this home jumped from $4,333 to $5,957. That’s a 37% increase in just three years.

“How are families supposed to keep up when everything else is going up too? Groceries cost more. Gas costs more. Insurance costs more. Utilities cost more. Now property taxes are skyrocketing as well.

“Middle class families, seniors on fixed incomes, and young homeowners are being squeezed from every direction. Governments keep talking about affordability, but people are seeing less money in their pockets every year.

“At what point do we say enough is enough? Taxpayers deserve answers, accountability, and relief.

“People cannot continue to absorb increases like this year after year.”
