Erik Jones has signed a multi-year contract extension with Legacy Motor Club, the team announced at Kansas Speedway prior to Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400.
“Erik Jones is the cornerstone of what we are building at Legacy and he has earned that,” Legacy Motor Club co-owner Jimmie Johnson said in a prepared statement. “He has been a part of this organization through every stage of its evolution, and his consistency, professionalism, and knowledge of what it takes to compete at this level are exactly what we need as we bring in new drivers and build toward 2027. Keeping Erik in the No. 43 for the long term was a priority for us.”
Jones, who’s heading into his 11th NASCAR Cup Series season, joined the No. 43 team in 2021 under the Richard Petty Motorsports banner. During his tenure with the team, Jones has recorded one victory, 10 top fives and 37 top-10s. His victory in 2022 was his second in Darlington’s Southern 500.
“I feel like we’ve hit on something (this year) and been consistent,” Jones said in a prepared statement. “I’m thankful to get the chance to continue building on that in the years to come.”
