Gervonta Davis has shirked legacy for money as he abandons his rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. in favor of a fight with Jake Paul.
November 14th will see Atlanta play host to Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis, a farcical exhibition bout between a WBA top-15 cruiserweight and the WBA’s lightweight champion.
The Netflix card will see Davis vie for money over greatness, as he forgoes his opportunity to right the most controversial night of his career to date, after fighting to a draw against Lamont Roach last time out.
Tank was lucky to even get a draw after a knockdown he sustained wasn’t called, but has ducked the chance to secure a win over Roach.
With Davis out of the picture, Floyd Mayweather believes he has the perfect opportunity for the only man Tank couldn’t beat.

In a post on Instagram, Mayweather has suggested his prodigy, Curmel Moton, face Roach next.
Mayweather captioned the post, “Let’s make this fight happen!! Curmel Moton is already IN. Roach, let’s do it. Even if I have to put up the money.”
Moton is just 8-0 as a pro, with his best opponent being a 7-0-1 fighter. Roach, meanwhile, is 25-1-2, and has held a super-featherweight world title.
One thing Moton does have behind him is a stellar amateur career, racking up a record of 156-7, one of the best amateur records of any recent fighter.
Moton and Roach got into a heated exchange after Mayweather’s callout, with Roach posting on X,
“@FloydMayweather you jumping your young bull out there too quick & we all know how that would go rn nothing personal champ but let’s run it! Ill show you why.”
Moton replied, suggesting he wanted the fight, to which Roach responded that he had bigger fish to fry.
The 19-year-old prodigy was scathing in his response, “Big fish? The rematch ain’t happening move on, I’m a bigger name then you in boxing the fight will do numbers and I’m chasing greatness ain’t nothing stopping it from happening but you?”
Curmel Moton could be on a collision course with a rising Brit instead
Another option for Mayweather’s rising star is British fighter Giorgio Visioli.
Visioli and Moton have had much back and forth relating to some time the pair spent sparring one another.

Both men suggest they got the better of the other, with 8-0 Visioli making the bold claim that he was well above Moton in levels in that spar.
Eddie Hearn accused Moton of ducking Visioli, and has expressed confidence that Visioli could beat Moton, and the pair may well be on a collision course as their careers take off.
