Hello from Indianapolis, where the Fever’s 2026 season is on the line. Aces head coach Becky Hammon said today she expects the Fever to send two to A’ja, versus letting her work in single coverage.
“I think they got to do something,” Hammon said. “They they can’t allow A’ja to be that efficient. You know, it’s a pick-your-poison type scenario. I know ‘A’ will make the right play, so the rest … got to step up and knock down some shots. But I anticipate, yeah, a double team.”
Fever head coach Steph White indicated they would send different looks and coverages.
“She’s the best player in the world for a reason,” White said. “You got to try to keep her off a balance as much as possible without giving up too much to to Chelsea [Gray] and Jackie [Young] certainly, but especially the way that that Jewell [Loyd] and Steph Talbot have been shooting the ball as well. So so we’ll make some adjustments and and and we’ll go out and we’ll play our butts off.”
