‘Before anything else, I want to recognize Lori and the incredible 33 years she has poured into this place,’ Becky Sawyer said
Becky Sawyer, the owner of Beck’s Bar, announced today that the rumours are true.
“I am incredibly excited — and honestly a little emotional — to finally announce that I am officially the new owner of Misty’s 50’s!” Sawyer said on social media.
“Before anything else, I want to recognize Lori and the incredible 33 years she has poured into this place. Thirty-three years is more than running a business — it’s creating memories, friendships, traditions and a place that has become a staple in Sault Ste. Marie,” the post said.
For Sawyer, taking over Misty’s “feels like coming completely full circle.”
“Some of my favourite years in this industry were spent inside these walls, slinging beers, learning the business and realizing that someday I wanted to own a bar of my own.
“A lot of the dreams and aspirations that eventually led me to Beck’s actually started right here at Misty’s.”
Sawyer said some changes are coming to Misty’s, but she also plans to honour the bar’s history.
“I have so much respect for the history of this place, and while there are some amazing changes coming, my goal has never been to erase what Misty’s has been. It’s to honour it, build on it and give this Sault Ste. Marie staple its next chapter.”
Misty’s Fifties will be closed for a few weeks while they revamp, do some minor renovations and some training.
Sawyer reassured her followers that she will continue to also run Beck’s.
“Apparently one bar just wasn’t enough to keep me busy.”
