The Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Valkyries will clash in Game 1 of their best-of-five semifinal series at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday at Chase Center in San Francisco on NBC.
Read on for my Aces vs. Valkyries prediction based on the latest WNBA odds:
Aces vs. Valkyries Prediction: Sunday, Oct. 4
I’m backing the Aces to win Game 1 as short road favorites against the Valkyries on Sunday.
The Aces, who have won three of the last four titles, enter the semifinal round as the championship favorites. They are in an excellent position to add another trophy, though they will have to get past a historic defensive team this round.
In addition to having a defense capable of slowing down an explosive offense, the Valkyries also have superior depth and home-court advantage. An upset is possible.
But the Aces have A’ja Wilson and an experienced core that knows what it takes to win in the postseason.
As a result, I have to believe Las Vegas understands the importance of winning Game 1 on Sunday. It could be the Aces’ best opportunity to steal home-court advantage.
The Valkyries could be a bit fatigued today after erasing a 16-point deficit in a comeback win during Friday’s Game 3 of the first round. This follows a Wednesday overtime loss in Dallas.
The Aces, meanwhile, have the rest advantage after finishing off their series win on Thursday. Since 2024, they are 19-11 against the spread with the rest advantage.
Las Vegas is also great at setting the tone in a series. Since the 2022 postseason, the Aces have won Game 1 in nine of their 11 playoff series victories.
Prediction: Aces moneyline (-120)
